Environmental Policy and Commitment
This Environmental Policy applies to all Hygiene House activities throughout New Zealand. The policy is reviewed annually to ensure its continued relevance and to support ongoing improvement in our environmental performance.
Hygiene House is committed to responsible environmental management and to meeting, and where practicable exceeding, the requirements of applicable New Zealand legislation, regulations and internationally recognised environmental standards. Our commitment to environmental awareness, protection and preservation is reflected throughout our business operations and practices.
Hygiene House is committed to conducting business in a manner that responsibly manages environmental impacts and promotes sustainable practices. We demonstrate this commitment by:
- Responsible management: Committing appropriate management resources to implementing this policy and maintaining effective environmental management practices.
- Responsible sourcing: Purchasing products with valid, recognised accreditations, including Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody certifications, where applicable.
- Resource conservation: Seeking to conserve natural and non-renewable resources, including energy, across all areas of our operations.
- Waste reduction and recycling: Reducing waste and reusing or recycling materials wherever practicable.
- Sustainable products: Sourcing and offering our customers environmentally responsible products that meet appropriate quality, performance and sustainability criteria.
- Pollution prevention: Working to minimise emissions, discharges and other adverse environmental impacts arising from our business activities, while continually improving our environmental performance where reasonably practicable.
- Education and awareness: Promoting environmental responsibility among our employees and clients through ongoing education, communication and support.
- Monitoring and continuous improvement: Monitoring and reviewing our environmental performance against established objectives, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing appropriate changes to our practices and procedures.
- Communication and accountability: Communicating this policy and our environmental practices to all employees, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and carry out their duties in accordance with our environmental commitments.
Hygiene House recognises that environmental responsibility is an ongoing commitment. We will continue to review our practices, identify opportunities to reduce our environmental impact and strive to make responsible choices that support a more sustainable future.
